Course Offerings

INTRODUCTION TO DANCE
Students placed in this class will have an opportunity to take a survey style class of multiple dance styles and genres. We will cover genres such as social dance, ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, improvisation, and composition in ~4 week units. Students will learn dance technique of each genre as well as history. Each class will perform in the Annual Kenwood Dance Concert which will take place May 18th.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED DANCE
Introduction to dance is a pre-requisite for this honors course. Students in intermediate dance will cover the same genres we cover in introduction to dance with added expectations for the caliber of their technique and dedication to academics. We will cover genres such as social dance, ballet, jazz, modern, contemporary, improvisation, and composition in ~4-6 week units. Intermediate dance is an honors level course and will require honors level work such as projects, essays, and critical thinking. Dance III will also meet during this class and will be doing additional projects and independent studies during assessments. These students will occasionally participate in master classes from guest instructors as well. Each class will perform in the Annual Kenwood Dance Concert which will take place May 18th.
